In order to protect the environment, conservation of energy and natural resources, the use of waste paper has expanded quite rapidly in various fields such as Newspaper, Writing and Printing paper and Tissue paper etc. Dry strength additives are especially useful in the manufacture of paper from recycled fibre. It is the need for recycling paper that a suitable dry strength resin should not confer high wet strength to the paper so that no additional equipment and processing is needed for eventual repulping. The inherent or natural dry strength of paper is due to hydrogen bonding between fibres in the “bonded area” of the sheet. All the bonds are hydroxyl – hydroxyl hydrogen bond, and all therefore have the same strength. The purpose of the dry strength additive, therefore, is to augment the natural hydrogen bonding between fibres. |

Application |
“CON-TROL” DS “2001” is to be used under normal paper making conditions. Generally the sue of 0.2 to 0.5% of the resin will provide sufficient improvement in bursting and tensile strengths. The resin is added in refined stock chest, head box, fan pump, machine chest etc. the resin is useful between pH 4 and 9. when lower degree of wet strength is required, the pH should be greater than 5.5. |
Shelf-Life |
The product has a long standing life. Needs to be stored in a covered, dry are and under no circumstances exposed to direct sunlight. |
